# Why does my dub sound too fast, robotic or distorted?

Rarely the voiceover might have inconsistent voice, including fluctuations or a creaking voice. Such problem is associated with ML models that we use and can be solved by simple regeneration of the segments with issues.

### How Rask keeps the voiceover clean

- **Background separation.** For videos shorter than 30 minutes, Rask separates speech from music and sound effects with a dedicated model and joins the processed parts smoothly. Longer videos use the standard separation.
- **Even volume.** Rask compares the lines of each speaker and adjusts lines that are noticeably quieter or louder than that speaker's typical level. This works when a speaker has at least three lines. A preview of a single segment plays as generated.
- **Earlier projects.** Files you exported before stay as they are. To apply the latest audio processing to an older video, create a new project from it.

### The voice sounds too fast or too slow

This usually happens when the translated sentence is much longer or shorter than the original, so the voice is sped up or slowed down to fit the timing. To fix it:

- Use [AI script adjustment](https://help.rask.ai/hc/what-is-ai-script-adjustment-rask-help-center?hsLang=en) to shorten or expand the translation of the marked segments.
- Pick a shorter translation alternative in [Voiceover Preview](https://help.rask.ai/hc/introducing-segments-voiceover-preview?hsLang=en).
- Extend the segment's timestamps into a nearby pause, or split a long segment.
- Try [Dubbing 2.0](https://help.rask.ai/hc/what-is-meaning-first-translation-approach?hsLang=en), which adapts the wording to the timing and lets lines extend into natural pauses.

### You can choose one of the following options to fix a distorted voiceover:

1. Make a small adjustment to the segment, like [deleting and re-adding](https://help.rask.ai/hc/how-to-edit-the-project-in-rask-ai-rask-help-center?hsLang=en) a punctuation mark or inserting a line break using the "Enter" key or making other changes to translated text. This way, our system will recognize it as a modification. Then, save the segment & click the "re-dub" button and voiceover for the modified segment will be regenerated.
2. Use the [Voiceover Preview](https://help.rask.ai/hc/introducing-segments-voiceover-preview?hsLang=en) feature, to choose different options of translation and listen to voiceover preview
3. 4. [Split the segments](https://help.rask.ai/hc/how-to-manage-segments-rask-help-center?hsLang=en) with distorted voice into smaller parts, adjust the timing, and redo the voiceover for each of these smaller segments.
5. [Switch](https://help.rask.ai/hc/how-to-edit-the-project-in-rask-ai-rask-help-center?hsLang=en) to one of our preset voices by changing the voice assigned to speaker.
