Upload requirements: formats, file size and maximum video length
Before you upload, check that your file meets the requirements below. This helps your project process without errors.
Which file formats are supported?
- Video: MP4, MOV, WEBM, MKV
- Audio: MP3, WAV
- Links: YouTube, Google Drive and Vimeo. See how to translate a video by link.
For video, we recommend the H.264 video codec and MPEG-4 AAC audio codec. Files with other codecs, such as a separate timecode track, can fail during dubbing. If that happens, re-encode the file to H.264 and AAC and upload it to a new project.
What is the maximum video length?
You can upload videos and audio up to 5 hours long. For the most stable processing of very long recordings, you can also split them into parts and translate each part separately.
What is the maximum file size?
We recommend uploading files up to 10 GB. Larger files may not be processed correctly. If your file is bigger, compress it or split it into parts.
Can I upload several files at once?
Yes. With Bulk Upload you can upload up to 10 files at once, or up to 30 in an Enterprise Teamspace.
Does the file need speech?
Yes. Rask transcribes the speech in the original language before translating it, so the file must contain an audio track with speech. Files without speech fail with a "Transcription failed" error (how to fix it).
Processing time depends on the length of your video, see how long it takes to process a video. If you have more questions, contact us through the support chat or at support@rask.ai.
