# How to use Translation dictionary?

Use the Translation Dictionary to enhance consistency and speed up your audio and video dubbing.

The intelligent database of preferred translations ensures consistent and accurate language output across all projects. This feature saves time by reducing repetitive corrections and improves the quality and reliability of your dubbing work.

For example, you can ensure your brand name is never translated, maintaining brand identity across all languages and avoiding potential misunderstandings. You can also standardize the translation of industry-specific jargon and technical terms, preventing inconsistencies that can confuse audiences.

This way Translation Dictionary helps maintain brand voice and terminology, making it an invaluable tool for any organization aiming to produce professional multilingual content efficiently.

### What languages are available?

You can create custom dictionaries for all languages available in Rask! 

Feel free to create multiple versions of dictionaries for the same language pair. This allows you to tailor dictionaries for different tones of voice and purposes. You can name them differently to easily distinguish between them.

### How to create new Dictionary?

1\. Go to Dictionary tab, you can find it in the bar with assets on the left side of the screen and choose **Create new dictionary**

or, within an existing project, you can opt to create a new dictionary by selecting **Create dictionary** in the upper right corner of the project interface.

2\. Select the languages, enter the dictionary name, and tap **Create dictionary**.

3\. Type the original word and its translation. If you prefer to keep the original word, you can choose the **Do not translate** option.

4\. Tap **Save** to save the dictionary.

### How to import a dictionary from a file?

If your team already keeps a terminology list, add it to Rask in one step. Import is available in the desktop version.

1. Open "Dictionary" in the left sidebar. Create a dictionary for your language pair or open an existing one.
2. Click "Download template" to get the file dictionary\_template.csv.
3. Fill in two columns: the source term on the left and its translation on the right. Each row is one pair. Replace the example row "example,translation" with your own terms. Rask reads every row as a term pair, so leave out a header row.
4. Save the file as CSV (comma-separated) or TSV (tab-separated, with the .tsv extension) in UTF-8. If your list lives in Excel, export it to CSV first.
5. Click "Import" and choose your file. The terms appear in the dictionary for review.
6. Check the pairs, edit any of them if needed, and click "Save" to store the dictionary.

**Example for English → Spanish:**

```

```

**File tips:**

- If a term contains a comma, wrap it in double quotes.
- Each row needs exactly two filled columns. Empty rows and rows with one empty side are skipped.
- If a source term appears twice in the file, Rask keeps the first one. Terms already in the dictionary take priority over the same term in the file.
- Keep each term on one line, up to 1024 bytes per side (about 1000 Latin characters, fewer for other scripts). The file can be up to 10 MB.
